This wine concentrates all the distinctive aromas of Isola del Giglio: you can recognize the herbal notes, underwood, the mentholated of myrtle, the vibrant minerality of the granite soil, the body and finesse of the Ansonica grape variety balanced with light tannins and smoked oak hints.
The elegance of Sangiovese variety is always the main character of Testamatta wine. This vintage shows how Sangiovese can be fresh, fruity on one hand, elegant, long and persistent on the other. 2018 is rich of blackberries and blueberries, earthy hints, light mineral undertone. It has a pronounced intensity accompanied by silky and important tannins that make the wine long and persistent.
Under the ruby color, the nose is intense and complex. This is dry, full bodied, and woody red featuring refreshing acidity. On the palate, it showcases fleshy tannins and a broad mouthfeel that leads into a long finish.
Bright acidity and soft, subtle aromas of crabapple, watermelon, raspberry, strawberry, and wet stone. This vintage is concentrated, earthy, crisp, and dry with composed structure.
The grapes sourced for Colore were selected from our three best vineyards in Lamole, Vincigliata, and Siena. The most significant difference between Testamatta and Colore is the age of the vines that supply the fruit: fruit from the very oldest vines in three of our vineyards goes into Colore, many of which are around 80 years old with some as old as 130 years.
