Established since the Middle Ages, north of the Beaune coast, this vineyard is very hilly and covers the slopes of the hills of Aloxe-Corton and Savigny-lès-Beaune. It is the diversity of its floors and its exhibitions that gives each of his creations a strong identity. The area of white production is 53 ha, including 7 Premiers Crus on 17.60 ha: Caradeux, Sous Frétille, Clos Berthet, Clos du Village, Quarters, Morand and Pernand Village. Our house has 0.94 ha.
Established in january 1938, the Protected Designation of Origin Chablis is located nearby Auxerre, along the river with a predestined name "Le Serein". The continental climate, hot in summer, cold in winter, with strong frosts in spring - associated with a limestone and marly soil, makes the Chablis with a stunning quality. The rock contains deposits of tiny fossilised oyster shells. Regarding the Premier Cru, the particularity is that they are produced on either side of the Serein river (left bank and right bank). The most famous Climats are those on the right bank.
These vineyards cover the hilly slopes of Aloxe-Corton and Savigny-lès-Beaune. There are only four Premier Crus Pinot Noirs: “Les Fichots”, “En Caradeux”, “Creux de la Net”, “Iles des Hautes et Basses Vergelesses”.
The nose of the 2017 Dutton Ranch Chardonnay is particularly lively this vintage, with fresh lemon curd leading the aromas, accented by mango, green apple, and a pretty lily of the valley floral note. The mouth is beautifully balanced, with a key lime pie combination of zippiness and creaminess, rounded out with apple, pear, and apricot, making this a crowd-pleasing wine for chardonnay fans of all kinds, and may even convert non-chardonnay drinkers. Its brightness makes a great foil for richer dished like spaghetti carbonara, oysters Rockefeller, or sole meunière.
Although Châteauneuf du Pape wines are well-known today, in particular for their great red wines (95% of the appellation) mainly from Grenache Noir varieties, connoisseurs will recognise in the white wines all the signs of a great 'terroir'. Two limestone plots at the Terroirs du Clos are kept for a wine whose uniqueness has no equal with regard to its delicacy, which will seduce palates that are seeking freshness and minerality.
