We had dinner one night in Seattle a few years ago with Ferdinando Frescobaldi at a casual Italian restaurant and his Rèmole Toscana IGT was on the winelist, so we ordered a bottle. While we were waiting for the bottle to arrive, we asked him to describe the wine and what he was trying to achieve with it.
“Yes,” he said. “Brunello is a wine for a tuxedo…Mormoreto is a wine for a sport coat and a tie.”
“But Rèmole is a wine for the T-shirt.”
We think that description is so much better than just saying that its 85% Sangiovese and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. This is your house wine, one to have when you want enjoyment without contemplation, where you don’t have to think about opening a second bottle.
