Sangiovese is the main grape component of Chianti, one Italy's best known wines. The cultivation of Sangiovese in Tuscany can be traced back through the centuries to ancient Greece and Rome. In fact, the word Sangiovese is derived from Latin "Sanguis Jovis", or "The Blood of Jupiter".
This is an excellent example of a modern, well-structured Chianti that can be served with a variety of foods, not just Italian fare. Make this your house wine and you will always have a nice bottle of red wine to serve with whatever you prepare. Grilled fish and chops, stews, roasts all work well...and this wine works with the pizza you order when you don’t feel like cooking.
