"Despite the hot year this shows encouraging depth, riipeness and a berry-driven nose. And if you cherish agility and subtelties more than pure power, this has the goods; it's full of zesty plum and dark berry flavors and the finish is long and fresh. Not a desperate heavyweight with too much extract or oak; instead it boasts finesse and a lightness of being."

Francesca Capafons and Monserrat Osso married in the late 1960's, merging their family names and historic vineyards. The Capafons family has made wine in Priorat for over five generations, and now produces balanced, expressive wines from the Mas de Masos vineyard in Priorat and the Masia Esplanes vineyard in Montsant. Senor Capafons considers his vineyards "natural laboratories" and strives to maintain equilibrium between his land and nature.
Masia Esplanes is a succulent Montsant wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Garnacha and Syrah. This wine possesses a very intense color with red and violet tones. It has a compact, yet complex aroma with clear signs of berries and spices. On the palate this wine has a firm structure, with a long-lasting finish and an aftertaste of spices and fresh-ground cocoa. It is a blend of 35% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Syrah, 10% Garnacha, and 5% Carinena.
